B-Lay Social floor

B-Lay Social floor

Category: Interior design
Status: Completed

The B-Lay office is structured as a sequence of distinct yet interconnected spatial identities, shaped through a human-centred design process that blends architecture with UX thinking. Each floor responds to a different mode of working: Silent, Active, and Social, creating a dynamic ecosystem that supports focus, movement, and interaction.

The Social floor, referred to as the Loft, is conceived as an open and expressive environment dedicated to collaboration, informal exchange, and creative work. Defined by generous glazing and a bright, fluid layout, the space shifts away from productivity as isolation and instead frames work as a collective and communicative act.

At its core, the project operates through a balance between familiarity and activation. The yellow “nest”, a spatial and visual anchor, creates an enclosed living room–like setting, offering a sense of comfort and informality within the open plan. In contrast, the long communal table establishes a shared working platform, encouraging spontaneous collaboration and group dynamics. The tension between these two elements - intimate vs. collective, structures the spatial experience.

Along the perimeter, a lightweight white wireframe system integrates storage, spatial definition, and future growth. Designed to accommodate climbing plants, it gradually transforms into a living wall, softening the workspace and reinforcing the idea of an evolving, adaptive environment.

Rather than prescribing a fixed way of working, the Loft enables multiple forms of interaction, planned or spontaneous, focused or relaxed, supporting a workplace culture based on openness, exchange and creative overlap.
