STR TABLE

STR TABLE

Category: Product design
Status: Completed

The s.t.r. (steel threaded rod) series starts from a pragmatic need and evolves into an experimental exploration of the latent potential of ordinary construction elements. Emerging from a hands-on, DIY approach, standard threaded rods and off-the-shelf steel brackets typically concealed within structures , are brought to the forefront and reassembled into a visible, expressive system. The result is a family of objects where structure, assembly, and aesthetics become inseparable.

The table is the most grounded expression of the s.t.r. system - a large, stable surface supported by a structure that appears light, almost provisional, yet is rigorously articulated.

A network of threaded rods and steel joints constructs a precise balance between tension and rigidity. Stability is not achieved through mass, but through relationships: triangulations, layered connections, and reinforced nodes that distribute forces across the entire assembly. What might initially read as fragile reveals itself as a coherent structural logic.

The joints composed of standard steel brackets, doubled and intersected, become key elements of the design. Through repetition, they evolve from simple connectors into complex, almost sculptural nodes, giving rhythm and depth to the otherwise minimal framework.

The table fully exposes its making. Every nut, washer, and connection remains visible, turning the act of assembly into an integral part of its identity. In this sense, the object operates less as a finished form and more as a system in equilibrium open, legible, and adaptable.
