The s.t.r. (steel threaded rod) series starts from a pragmatic need and evolves into an experimental exploration of the latent potential of ordinary construction elements. Emerging from a hands-on, DIY approach, standard threaded rods and off-the-shelf steel brackets typically concealed within structures, are brought to the forefront and reassembled into a visible, expressive system. The stand is the origin piece of the series, the first object in which these elements were brought together as both structure and expression. Initially conceived as a simple support for a screen, it retains the directness and immediacy of that first gesture.
